Wordpress is supposed to be fun and easy to use, so we’ll see what happens. I can always move back haha. How are you enjoying your weekend? I am trying to make it as productive as I can. Wednesday and Thursday were regular work days for me, but I took Friday off, because my brother was getting the keys to his first own home. That’s right, my little brother bought his own apartment! He asked me to accompany him to the notary where the house was officially put on his name and Oxidaisyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04292158017984261741noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6971461844806719861.post-76600351890120014742010-10-19T20:14:00.001+02:002010-10-19T20:14:41.345+02:00Fall, coffee and tightsHello everyone! Sorry for having fallen of the earth. I am going through some changes in my life here and somehow the urge and time to blog just disappeared. But I am back! I have decided that I want to have more frequent shorter posts. They are easier to make and easier to read, so I guess it is a win-win (assuming somebody is actually reading my ‘blabbings’. So, what has been on my mind? Just over a week ago I participated in the Posbankloop, a tough race. The official course is 15k and it’s known to be very hard. They also have a 6k route, which I did. The course goes uphill for the first half, ending in a, for the Netherlands, nasty hill: 650 upwards with an average incline of 7%. From then it is mainly downhill to the finish. I am a bit behind on blogging about my life, because the vacation posts took so much time to make. It was a fun trip down memory lane though! A few weeks ago I did the Bridge to Bridge run in my home town. As the name of the race says, you run across two bridges during your run. Well, there was a fire close by so the Boyfriend went to check it out. But I couldn’t really be bothered, I was just dozing off dreaming of the day we just had. I am back from my vacation in France. Well, officially I have been working for a couple of weeks now but I have been trying my best to keep that relaxed vacation-y feeling. This also meant that I wasn’t really doing anything in my spare time, lol. But, now that I settled in my old rhythm again I decided it was about time that I picked up blogging again. I have a lot to talk to you Oxidaisyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04292158017984261741noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6971461844806719861.post-17265672225628466272010-08-13T16:19:00.001+02:002010-08-13T16:19:30.870+02:00Oeh La La!Hey everyone! Just want to tell everyone that today is my last working day and then I will have an entire two weeks off! It will probably be my last vacation until the end of this year, since I will be slaving on my thesis from September on (along with a thousand prayers that I will actually finish it in time). The Boyfriend and I will leave on a road trip together to France! Oeh lala! Yay! I feel so sorry for girls and women who miss out on so much fun, joy and other good things, because they are obsessing about their looks. My other goal is to have as much summer fun as possible! HOW: Speed training Do interval and speed training to get faster, a couple of times a week. I realized that I haven’t  told you about my new fitness goals yet. But first something about goals in general. I was thinking about how I handled my bike ride the other day. And there are two things about it. On one side I feel like I bailed out when the going got tough, but on the other side I don’t mind at all. I know I didn’t train enough to do well. I am still Oxidaisyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04292158017984261741noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6971461844806719861.post-52090892088034968282010-07-09T12:39:00.001+02:002010-07-09T12:46:42.001+02:00My Tica SisterYesterday I got to see my ‘sister’  Lilli from Costa Rica! Let me explain: after highschool I went to Costa Rica as an exchange student. I lived with a host family there for almost a year. We had a great connection and I really consider them family. After the exchange year I visit them two more times, but it had been six years since we saw each other. I totally felt like quitting and going home, but on the other hand I really wanted to continue, i just didn’t know how. The Boyfriend asked me what I wanted and I told him that I really wanted to arrive at the next rest stop. That would be the farthest point of that lap anyway. It is a recap of the bike ride I participated in two weekends ago. As you know, I have been training for a 100+K bike ride for a while now and last weekend was D-day! They Boyfriend drove me and my bike to the start of the bike ride. The weather was cool, which was good, and the forecast had sad rain, which was not good. And to be honest, I don’t mind! But sometimes it would be nice to be able to let go of things a bit more. For example, take this blog: I have committed myself to a lot of regular features already, and I still have a hard time putting up 1 post a week! Somehow that doesn’t really match, does it? The problem is that it always leaves me feeling guilty. I have a great idea to get as much out of the summer months as possible. To be honest, it’s based on a Flylady thing, but I filled it in to my own taste. For the whole summer we are going to camp! I actually made it again today, which reminded me to make post about it. I saw the recipe here and adapted it a little. I used a kiwi instead of strawberries. I guess I was focused too much on the biking to get off my bike and take pictures. It was a tough trip even though it started pretty good. I did over 75k and until 45k I felt great! Monday I was forced to take the day off. There were some problems in the family I don’t want to talk about (done that enough in the last couple of days) which forced us to take care of some stuff. But the whole situation added up with the tiredness of last week plus sleep deprivation from my girls night out left me feeling like a ghost for the first half Oxidaisyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04292158017984261741noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6971461844806719861.post-49788594976920787122010-06-02T16:18:00.001+02:002010-06-02T16:18:18.898+02:00Chronicles of a PhD candidate: part III Another week passed. Wow, did that go fast! Unfortunately I didn’t have such a good week as last week, but that was ok. I could afford to take it a little easier even though I would have liked to get some more stuff done. I felt sleep deprived and demotivated all week. So, on Friday I bought myself this: That’s right, a Havenly Hazel! It was a girls-only race called the Mariken run, after Mariken van Nimwegen a famous historical woman from Nijmegen, the city where the race was held. It is a big event where about 8000 women participate in a 5 or 10k race. Of course I did the 5k, because I still (probably never will) don’t feel like running for an hour.
